Biggest ICSE reflects pharma outsourcing growth

Events organiser UBM Live today announced that exhibitor space for its annual flagship pharmaceutical contract services event, ICSE Europe, has grown by 24% over 2009, making the event the largest ever in its 10 year history, and featuring 363 exhibitors from 30 countries.

UBM also revealed details of new features for the 2010 event which will be held at Paris, Villepinte, from 5th to 7th October, including the introduction of an expanded packaging focus, visitor-friendly zoning and the inaugural Pharma Outsourcing Roundtable.
ICSE, in association with co-located events CPhI Worldwide for ingredients, P-MEC Europe for equipment, machinery and technology and BioPh Europe for biopharma, is expected to draw over 25,000 attendees.

The 2010 event will see the launch of a new zoned layout, making it easier for visitors to find the exhibitors that they are looking for, giving more logical on-site navigation and leaving visitors with ‘more talking, less walking’ time.

The zones will focus on two of the fastest growing areas within Pharmaceutical Clinical Trials, Contract Services, Contract Research, and Packaging. The Contract Research Zone will feature clinical trials, preclinical, Phase I-IV clinical trials and contract research companies, while the Packaging Zone will feature a wide range of companies that provide packaging solutions within various stages of pharmaceutical processing, from bioprocess vessels to anti-static film, labelling to RFID.

Following their successful launch in 2009, the ICSE Speakers Corner will run on each day of the event in Hall 4, Stand 4F80. Free to attend these 25 minute sessions cover product launches, innovations and industry updates on the latest products and services. Tuesday 5th October and Thursday 7th October will see the ICSE Feature Area host the inaugural Packaging Zone Speakers Corners, which will be hosted by exhibitors in the ICSE Packaging Zone and those participating in the new Packaging Trail and again, these are free to attend.

The first ever Pharma Outsourcing Roundtable will run on Wednesday, 6th October and will feature representatives from major pharma, the legal profession, custom manufacturing, excipient producers, formulators and CROs. Designed to produce lively debate around current sourcing issues from a wide range of industry perspectives, topics will include the re-making R&D processes, streamlining manufacturing networks, and exploiting the untapped opportunities offered by the growing economies in Asia, Africa and Latin America and the panel will consist of very senior, highly experienced supply chain and outsourcing professionals from some of the world’s largest bio/pharmaceutical companies.

"Typically, outsourcing tends to thrive during tough economic conditions, as major pharma takes steps to rationalise its production and R&D assets and this is reflected in ICSE’s continuing growth,’ commented Haf Cennydd, UBM Live Brand Director, adding, ‘We will continue to add new content and evolve the event to meet industry demands and trends and feel that this year’s event, our largest ever, will be the most valuable yet in terms of ROI for our exhibitors and visitors."

Launched in 2000, ICSE Europe has grown to become the must attend meeting place for the global pharma outsourcing community and exhibitor levels have increased dramatically since its inception, from 14 to 363, reflecting the growth and importance of the pharma contract services sector.

The annual schedule of global ICSE events also includes ICSE India (Mumbai, 1-3 December 2010), ICSE Japan (Tokyo, 18-20 April 2011), ICSE China (Shanghai, 21-23 June 2011) and ICSE South America (Sao Paolo, Brazil, 24-26 August).
