DuPont Personal Protection is introducing Professor Victor Tytonius, the cyber scientist who specialises in worker protection and chemical protective clothing and materials. In a series of videos he carries out scientific experiments to reveal the performance of three non-woven structures – Tyvek, MP (Microporous Film) and SMS (Spunbond-Meltblown-Spunbond). In this digital animation that takes science and turns it into a fun, interesting yet educational topic, Professor Tytonius helps wearers select the appropriate protective clothing.
Split into several chapters and designed to be told over a period of time, the story develops to explain and enhance the major differences between Tyvek, MP and SMS.
Chapter 1 explains that since the creation of Tyvek in 1955 there is now an array of similar materials available; the most well known of these being MP (Microporous Film) and SMS (Spunbond-Meltblown-Spunbond). From his laboratory, Professor Tytonius clearly demonstrates the three fabrics’ physical properties are not alike and that they provide very different levels of protection.
In Chapter 2 the Professor investigates the main structure of the different materials by putting them under the microscope and tests the effectiveness of the barrier the material is expected to provide. These experiments reveal the different performances in a laboratory and help you understand the consequences in a real-life working environment. And in Chapter 3, Professor Tytonius reveals some hard scientific evidence about the chemical protection properties of the different structures. He carries out experiments to test the garments for penetration and permeation according to harmonized standards and explains the results as they are revealed.
Through this innovative and humorous presentation, the animation delivers the important scientific message that if you want to have the very best protection, protection in use that can stand up to the task at hand, you should invest in the very best coveralls available. Professor Tytonius escorts his viewers on a journey that outlines a series of evidence that supports the difference of the Tyvek® material.
