New radiotherapy control system

Xstrahl, a designer and manufacturer of superficial and orthovoltage radiotherapy systems, today announces the launch of Imperium, a new control system for its X-ray therapy system, at this year’s ASTRO conference in San Diego, USA 31 October – 4 November.
Imperium provides users of Xstrahl’s radiotherapy systems with an advanced, easy to use clinical interface, and helping healthcare professionals to streamline the administrative aspects of patient care. The new controller can easily integrate with both time and dose systems, ensuring patients receive the prescribed dose, and its ability to integrate with electronic medical records can reduce the time needed for administrative tasks such as manually updating patient records. In addition, Imperium can prepare the machine for treatment using pre-programmed treatment regimes, saving valuable clinic time and facilitating enhanced patient care.

Martin Robinson, Managing Director says: “When combined with Xstrahl’s extensive range of radiotherapy systems, the new Imperium controller delivers a significant benefit to users by improving the accuracy of radiotherapy and helping to ensure the most effective treatment is received.”

In addition to launching Imperium at ASTRO, Xstrahl will be demonstrating their SARRP research platform. SAARP is transforming our understanding of radiation therapy, a treatment that is employed in over 50% of cancer patients worldwide, as well as providing the advanced preclinical platform for validating the efficacy of advanced radiation oncology.
